My family and I will be forever grateful for this school. The work they do with our daughter who has autism is incredible. they always have activities for parents to participate in. GOD BLESS YOU

You better hope nothing happens to your child out of your control. They also are good at assuming stuff and not listening to you and they like to throw the phone to different people and they jump in and you get confused and also sometimes you’ll get hung up on

I would recommend this school as this school has nice and caring staff. The important think I like about this school is that there is no bullying issues.

I did a long-term substitute position at this school. The teachers were motivated but the student body in large part is very disrespectful and very disobedient. Part of the problem is the nature of the culture of today's children: they all use cellphones and laptops and don't pay attention. Cellphones are "against the rules" but they completely ignore that. They have learned to overwhelm the teachers with constant chatter, then they can just blend into the noise and avoid repercussions. The staff are too overwhelmed to fill out disciplinary forms, so few are submitted. The administration is not able to handle this climate. There is minimal support for the teachers because of the overwhelming chaotic atmosphere every day. I've seen teachers QUIT in mid-lesson and storm out of the building never to return. I had several special education students who had 504s and IEPs but I never received their documentation even though I asked for it repeatedly! There is no genuine concern for special education requirements. You really have to cause a scene and embarrass the staff to do their jobs. Its not that they're bad people or ill intentioned; they are just too overwhelmed with the chaos. I've heard students plot to get teachers fired by making bogus complaints over and over.

I have had the pleasure of teaching for National Heritage’s Paramount Charter Academy in Kalamazoo for almost 12 years. In my tenure I have seen the school become an academic pillar of the community! The leadership of the building has worked hard at establishing a sense of family; yet firm in their belief that every child can learn, and learn to their highest capability! The school offers strong academics, yet, strives to educate the whole child, and their families. We have had a lot of families who have sent multiple generations to our school, and they have done well when their time at Paramount is completed. I could not work for an organization who didn’t care for their staff just as well as they care for their students. Paramount makes everyone from the custodial staff to the students, to the staff, and to the leadership feel special and important. Being at Paramount Charter Academy is a place for students to become better people, and those people be better citizens of our community and World. “It takes a village to raise a child.” This is one of the best villages for anyone to be a part of daily!

If a parent doesn't volunteer, regardless of how qualified or hardworking their child may be, they won't secure any leadership positions, particularly within the music department (OPIMA). In addition, the vice principal is really biased and if you say anything even slightly negative about Jews, she'll take immediate action, so it's best to be cautious.

This school does an excellent job of promoting a well rounded student, from academics, to social well being, to sports, to teambuilding and more. It is the type of school that nurtures the quintessential "whole child". While schools that nurture the "whole child" used to be quite common 30 years ago, today they are fewer and far between - which makes this school even more of a gem. A student can almost always find something to excel at here, because there are so many offerings. For students that like academics, the school provides some support for advanced math, spelling and geography bees, talent shows, and more. For students that like sports, the school offers a wide range of sports, including flag football, soccer, basketball, and more. Moreover, unlike other Silicon Valley schools that apply pressure on a student to succeed, which often pits students against each other and generates animosity, this school fosters an environment where students work with each other, regardless of skill level, so that all students feel appreciated and needed. This naturally generates an environment where nearly all students are friendly with one another as opposed to trying to compete with one another. Overall, this school is a hidden gem and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants their child to grow up as a good human being, with respect and love for their parents, and who will be a productive member of society.

This is a terrible school! I pulled both of my children from this school and am fortunate enough to be able to have them in a private online school. The teachers are bullies and Amy Wallace is quite inadequate and grossly inappropriate in terms of handling situations involving students and the conduct of the teachers. If you advocate for your child she will make sure your child feels isolated and targeted. The grades for the school continue to decline, its a money pit. For low income families that have no other choice you get stuck with having this horrible school. Teachers are too busy texting and messing on their phones. They make fun of and bully kids openly with other teachers and in front of other kids. They will leave your child unattended. For a school that USED to be one of the best in the county it had fallen so far. A strong look needs to be taken into administration.

My child has attended this school for 4 years and it is the absolute worst experience a parent could have. The faculty does a poor job at best at teaching basic concepts such as math and reading and the school is rife with bullying. Even after multiple attempts to resolve with the school the principal Forest Holbrook will never give you a straight answer and will lie to your face and tell you he addressed the problem. He loves attention, stands in front of the school everyday, but has no clue how to lead or deliver educational results at the elementary level. He is more of a mayor looking to enrich his own pocket than a school advocate for new learners.

I have been a Turning Point parent for four years and have two of my children here. I would recommend this school enthusiastically to anybody! A sweet story illuminating the Turning Point community and experience: my youngest is 4 years old and in preschool, while my eldest is 9 years old and in 3rd grade. My youngest is celebrating this weekend with a birthday party. Of course, many of her preschool classmates are attending. However, two of my 3rd grader's best friends gave my preschooler thoughtful gifts this week, and two more of my 3rd grader's friends are making time to come to the party. When the older girls see my preschooler, their eyes light up and they always run over to each other for hugs and games of tag. My husband and I were marveling at how lucky both our daughters are that our 3rd grader has such kind friends, but we were also talking about how grateful we are to be at a school where our preschooler can have friends so much older than her, who love her and who she loves right back. It's really a testament to Turning Point and to what an incredible close-knit and supportive community it is - such awesome kids of all ages. A truly magical and special place. All this to say, we count ourselves very lucky!

Normally, I’m not the type of parent to write reviews. especially on schools that the child, especially my child that supposed to learn in. My first child, who I want to remain anonymous, is struggling to find friends around school. She told me that whenever she tried to make this one girl her friend, the girl slapped her across the face with a jacket! I find this really immature and I don’t work and pay the teachers bills just to see them not educating my child! The teachers need to grow up! We’re not in fantasyland anymore! We are in elementary school and find this extremely immature because my other child, who I still want to remain anonymous, also has told me that the kids around school are cussing. And dating. In fifth grade? Elementary school? I find this extremely immature! I expect, and once more from the teachers! This is not the school I was expecting to have dating, cussing, etc. I shouldn’t be able to expect this from elementary school. If you want to put your child in Coppergate elementary for fifth grade, be my guest, because the school, I would not recommend.
